RV Share VS. Outdoorsy
If you are just getting started or thinking about renting out your RV on a Ride sharing P2P site than you most likely have heard of one or both of these websites (RV Share or/and Outdoorsy). When doing research I decided to try out both sites and it has worked out well for me. Both sites have similar breakdowns but there are minor neuances that make them different. I will breakdown the pros and cons of each and in the end let you know my personal thoughts on these sites. * Please note the age and size ofd the RV is going to determine how much you can charge and if the cost/profit ratio makes sense for you or not.
If you own or plan on getting your own RV you come to find most people use their personal RV typically 3-6 times per year and the rest of the time it sits in storage. If you want to experience something new and make a little money on the side that will pay the RV off and put a little extra in your pocket doing a P2P (Peer to Peer) sharing website makes total sence. They both have diferences how they manage booking and how much they charge in fees. Here are some of the basics you need to know.
Outdoorsy
Payout/ Fee structure: 80/20 split. You have to give them 20% of any completed booking.
Renter fee: they charge renters a fee based on their total reservation.
They offer daily insurance: Paid by the rental with muliple teirs of coverage
RV Share
Payout/ Fee structure: 75/25 split. You have to give them 25% of any completed booking.
They offer daily insurance: Paid by the rental with muliple teirs of coverage
Pro’s / Cons
RV Share Positives
They have an App
Easy to click quote and plug in a location to calculate the delivery for you
Much more traffic and “Matches”
RV Share Negatives
You have to open the app to respond every time
Outdoorsy Positives
When someone messages you, you can respond straight from the text instead of having to open the app
Outdoorsy Negatives
The quoting system is inconvenient
Higher percentage charged
Conclusion:
In conclusion both websites are very similar but charge slightly different fee structures. From what I have experienced I receive much more insights “matches” from RV share and get much more business from their website. Their fee structure is a little more but I would rather take 75% of higher revenue than 80% of a lower revenue source. Here are my breakdowns so far as of March 1, 2022. I beleive there is just much more traffic on RV Share and more people you can contact with quotes and potential for business as well. I personally continue to use both websites as I am still getting business from both as well as our personal site. Every RV is different and will make different amounts of profit depending on size, type of RV, age, price listed, delivery locations and accessability. You are going to have to do your own research but I hope this articles helps explain some of the differences between the two if you are interested in trying them out.
